Reports to:  Executive Director

The Organization:

Please Pass the Love (PPTL) empowers school communities to embrace and sustain mental health and wellness supports for their students. PPTL provides evidence-based and culturally responsive strategies through education, leadership, and advocacy. We are a rapidly growing nonprofit seeking an energetic, self-motivated, passionate individual to help us develop our organization.

 

The Position:

This is a part-time position of 20-30 hours a week at $12/hour with the potential of being full-time salaried with health insurance in a year. Responsible for planning, development and implementation of all of the Organization’s marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. Directs the efforts of the marketing, communications and public relations and coordinates at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the Organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an integrated, organization-­wide strategic communications plan to broaden awareness of the nonprofit sector and strengthen PPTL’s brand identity across key stakeholder audiences

  • Create a brand/marketing/public relations strategy that will allow PPTL executive and board leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high­level external audiences, including the media, public officials and key influencers

  • Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the sector and organization. Work with the board and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan across the network's discreet audiences in collaboration with the PPTL team and constituents

  • Curate content and increase audience engagement on PPTL’s social media channels

  • Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate

  • Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities

  • Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, annual report, and PPTL’s website

  • Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly

  • Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time

  • Manage all media contacts

  • Act as the Organization’s representative with the media.

  • Leads projects as assigned, such as cause-related marketing and special events.

 

Qualifications:

  • Highly collaborative style; experience developing and implementing communications strategies

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities.

  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.

  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, required

  • Experience with Wix, preferred

  • Strong experience in a variety of social media platforms.

  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently

  • Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence"

  • High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels

  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters

  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives

  • Good entrepreneurial work ethic and a desire to “get the job done”

  • Willingness to share own ideas, even amongst senior staff and board members

  • Ability to prioritize and follow through effectively

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations with at least 2-3 years of  experience preferred.

  • Background in social justice work preferred.

We seek board members committed to youth mental health and who are willing to grow and learn with us.  We strongly encourage persons with fundraising backgrounds to apply.
